Licensing
In accordance with title 10-301 (a) of the Occupational Therapy Practice Act, you must be licensed by the Board of Occupational Therapy Practice in order to practice occupational therapy in Maryland. Types of Licensure Available: Occupational Therapist or Occupational Therapy AssistantTime FrameAs indicated by the application process, some documents required for licensure must come from a third party, such as the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). Sometimes, neither the Board Office nor the applicant can control the length of time this may take. Applications for official licensure are reviewed by the Board at the monthly Board meeting on the 3rd Friday of every month. An application must be complete by the Wednesday prior in order to be submitted to the Board for review. The process for temporary licensure can take 5 business days from the time that a complete application is received by the Board Office.
