  *****REMINDER:  Address Changes*****

Per COMAR 10.46.01.02 (G), an applicant or licensee shall report a change of address, in writing,
within 30 days of the change.  The board does not intend to forward notices when the address we
have on file is undeliverable.  Please forward your current email addresses in order to receive certain
notices via email.

Continuing Competency News

The Maryland Board voted to participate in the AOTA Approved Provider Program by accepting courses
offered by AOTA Approved Providers effective 2/1/2009.  Click here to view a listing of AOTA Approved Providers.

The Board will accept courses offered by AOTA Approved Providers as approved for continuing education by the
Maryland Board of Occupational Therapy Practice.  Participants will need only to retain a copy of the certificate of
completion as documentation verifying completion of approved contact hours.

The Board will continue to provide reviews of individual courses submitted by course sponsors for a fee of
$30/course or for licensees at no additional fee.  However, the Board will review only those courses related to
occupational therapy principles and procedures as defined in COMAR 10.46.04.02 (7).  While a licensee has the option
of accruing up to 8 contact hours through occupational therapy role-related activities as defined in COMAR 10.46.04.02 (9),
the Board will not provide the service of a review or pre-approval for these programs. This means that licensees can take
role related courses without approval and claim 8 contact hours max, but in the event of an audit, the licensee must provide
the required documentation and should be prepared to justify the basis for approving the activity for continuing education
credit.  The Board may or may not accept the activity.

Recordkeeping

In an effort to aid licensees in tracking their continuing education compliance, the Board has revised the tools
used for organizing and maintaining continuing education records.  Take note of the numerous formats in which
continuing education may be earned.  New to the list are volunteer services, mentoring, poster presentations,
guest lecturer, auditing, professional study group, jurisprudence exam, fellowship training, instructional materials
and physical agent modalities (PAMs)  Please download these tools and use them for your recordkeeping.

Continuing Competency Requirement  Compliance Report:  Word Format   or    Adobe PDF Format

Continuing Competency Programs and Activities Reference Guide:  Word Format    or    Adobe PDF Format

Licensees must retain supporting documents for inspection by the Board for 4 years after the date of licensure,
renewal or reinstatement.  PAMs' documentation should never be discarded.
